About us

Stepping Stones is a registered charity, established in 1974, dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable childcare that supports children’s development.

Governance is overseen by a Board of Directors, with parents of children attending the setting serving as Directors.

This unique structure allows the Board to have a deep understanding of the needs of children, parents, and carers. The Board of Directors works closely with Stepping Stones staff to shape the childcare provision and actively engage in fundraising efforts for the charity.

Stepping Stones employs a team of 29 highly trained staff, and the organisation's positive ethos and nurturing environment are reflected in the long-term commitment of its employees, with some staff members having been with the organisation for over 20 years.

All staff involved in childcare at Stepping Stones hold relevant industry qualifications and are supported in their ongoing professional development.

Recognising the vital role of nutrition in a child’s physical development, Stepping Stones has an in-house chef who prepares nutritious meals using seasonal fruits and vegetables. The chef also creates specialised dishes to accommodate children with allergies.

Stepping Stones' kitchen has been awarded a five-star food safety hygiene rating in its latest inspection.
